About

The seed of the HSB was laid down on January 14, 2023 on the auspicious day of Makara Sankranti which is dedicated to Lord Surya (Sun God) and marks the sun's transit into Makara Raashi (Zodiac sign Capricorn). This festival is considered the most auspicious occasion and is one of the few Hindu festivals aligned with the solar cycle. It marks the beginning of the harvest season when people worship and share new crops. This is the first festival of the calendar year.

The inaugural function took place in the Community Centre of the City of Beaumont, a small city that is around 125 years old in Alberta, Canada. Hindu Society of Beaumont is proud to be the first Hindu society to be registered in the history of Beaumont.

Hindu Society of Beaumont is registered under the Society Act of Alberta. The signatories for the document were Mr Yashpal Sharma, Anita Bhatara, Anil Prasar, Sumangala Desaigoudar and Somashekharagouda Desaigoudar.
